Apr 2026 ENGINE I want to start off by saying that I have taken meticulous care of this vehicle and the intention was to keep this truck forever. However, that will not be possible after this incident. I was driving the vehicle at 60 mph when I noticed smoke coming out of the back of the vehicle and at that moment, the dash cluster started warning to shut off the engine immediately due to a lack of oil. I know there was plenty of oil in the engine because I just had the oil changed at a shop two weeks prior to the incident. I was able to verify that it was a total of 22 seconds from the time I noticed the smoke to the time I was able to pull off safely and shut the engine off. At that time, the engine had not seized, and I was able to manually shut off the engine on my own. I never tried to restart the engine and I had it towed to a shop that was nearby. 48 hours later the mechanic inspected it and discovered that the oil cooling line had somehow disconnected from the engine block, which had resulted in a catastrophic loss of oil. When that repair was made, the mechanic discovered that the engine would not start either by hand or automatically and deemed the engine to be seized. The engine in question is the Chevrolet 6.2L L87 engine that was involved in a manufacturer recall for models made in 2020 through 2024. My vehicle is the 2019 model and although there have been numerous occasions that I’ve been able to find in only a short period of research that revealed similar issues with a 2019 L87 6.2L engine, there still is no official recall on my specific model year. It was 1:30 in the morning, and I was rushing my sick dog to the emergency vet when this happened. Not only did it cause a major inconvenience trying to get him there in a timely manner, but our safety was also compromised in the process.

Apr 2026 ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM I Was traveling home one night and the truck shut off while driving and lost all power, loosing all steering, braking power aswell as all my lights while traveling down the road in the dark. . When I went to start it again all I would get was a cranking noise but no firing. After 30 minutes of waiting the truck started again. In which I drove it 3 more miles before it shut down again. After that it would not crank nor start. I then had the vehicle towed to my local Chevrolet dealer, and they had notified me that the engine had failed and locked up. In the process it had also taken out the FPCM (fuel pump control module) aswell as the high pressure fuel pump located on top of the motor. Causing me to have a new motor from GM installed. I had no previous problems or lights before this had happened.

Apr 2026 POWER TRAIN I am filing this complaint to report a critical manufacturing safety defect regarding the rear differential in my 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. During a recent dealership inspection at approximately 40,400 miles, an authorized GM service center (Jack Hanania Chevrolet) discovered that the vehicle's rear differential was completely "bone dry" of gear oil . Because there is no history of catastrophic fluid leaks, seal blowouts, or external damage, this strongly indicates that the rear differential was either never filled or improperly filled with lubricant at the factory during vehicle assembly. This issue originally presented as a persistent drivetrain vibration, shudder, and "skipping" sensation starting as early as 12,000 miles . I brought the vehicle to the dealership for this exact vibration at approximately 21,000 miles. The dealership misdiagnosed the issue as "low transmission fluid" (despite the transmission being a sealed system) and failed to inspect the rear differential . The symptoms persisted until the vehicle was immobilized in November 2025, which is when the bone-dry rear differential was finally discovered . A vehicle operating with an empty rear differential poses an extreme and immediate safety hazard. The lack of lubrication causes severe internal heat and friction, inevitably leading to a sudden, catastrophic mechanical seizure of the rear axle . If the rear wheels lock up while driving at highway speeds, it will cause an immediate loss of vehicle control, resulting in a high-speed collision. I urge NHTSA to investigate GM's factory fluid-fill procedures and quality control for 2019 Silverado differentials to prevent a fatal lock-up event for other drivers on the road.

Apr 2026 ENGINE Number 3 Lifter spun into housing & ruined camshaft, send metal throughout engine. On trip to another state pickup started ticking, service motor light, service parking brake light and service traction icons came on and also messages on them. Had to drive slow to get to next town. Decided to go back home six hours away, very slow the ticking became knocking. Pulled over multiple times. Contacted dealer to look at next morning. In shop about two months. Dealer said Number 3 lifter spun into housing and ruined camshaft that sent metal throughout engine. Had to have engine replaced for 12172.42. Dealer replaced engine and other parts that needed replacing also. Our trip was ruined and had to purchase a cheap used pickup to get to and from work. Could only travel under a certain speed without ticking and knocking. Had to take different roads home because of slow speed. Trip had to postpone because of this motor issue. All icons, messages, ticking and slower speed all happened at same time. Had no warnings ahead of anything wrong.

Apr 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,BACK OVER PREVENTION The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while in reverse(R), the back over prevention camera displayed a blue screen with the message “Camera Service Required” displayed. The failure was intermittent at first but became a permanent failure. The sensor for the hood latch displayed the message that the hood was not closed, even though the hood was securely closed. The contact stated that the remote starter failed due to the hood latch sensor failure. The contact was unsure if the two failures were related. The dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the failures were not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 56,000.

Apr 2026 POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER . I bought this truck for my husband as a birthday present & it has been a nightmare. My husband is a [XXX] & I wanted a vehicle that he would be comfortable in to take him to his numerous medical appointments. The first indication was the check engine light came on. I took to to O'Reillys & they scanned the vehicle & no issue was detected. I then had several instances where the vehicle would not start & one instance when it would not go into reverse & the truck was making a noise from the underbody. The windshield washer unit also was not working. I then took it back to the Ford dealership where it was purchased. They ran a scan at the dealership & said there was nothing wrong. They then indicated that I should take it to a Chevy dealer which I did. They stated that Chevy has a special scan that the previous scans cannot access. I documented all the issues and the Chevy dealership found 8 issues including the transmission, holes in the struts, software issues, washer pump, grille shutter & loose battery cables. The Ford dealership agreed to fix the struts & the washer pump as well as the diagnostic testing. I thought we were going to be able to resolve the transmission and the grille shutter issue but that has not happened. The defective grille shutter is what is activating the check engine light. The Ford dealership charged me for fixing the battery cables and yet they were needed to be done again. They also told me that the grille shutter was not necessary as I could drive with it but I would never know when I had an actual problem. They wanted to replace the torque converter. I submitted a request to Carvana & they offered me 5,000 and I paid double that plus. I don't feel safe driving the vehicle and GM is well aware of the issues with this make and Model. Let's not wait until someone is killed or hurt before action is taken. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Apr 2026 POWER TRAIN The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the message "Transmission Fluid Overheat" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the TCM had failed and needed to be replaced. The TCM was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. After retrieving the vehicle, the vehicle failed to immediately reverse as needed. The vehicle hesitated before reversing. The failure later occurred while driving forward, and the vehicle jerked while driving from being stationary. The contact stated that the failure was also present during cold starts. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 128,000.

Apr 2026 ENGINE The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the message "Oil Level Low - Turn off Vehicle Immediately" was displayed. Upon further inspection, the contact noticed a burning odor coming from under the hood, with an abnormal engine oil leak. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the engine oil cooler line had detached. The vehicle was repaired out of pocket. Upon further investigation, the contact related the failure to the Chevrolet Customer Satisfaction Program: N212326940 and Chevrolet Customer Satisfaction Program: N192220080; however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

Apr 2026 ENGINE Oil leaking from the oil cooling lines where the rubber hoses connect to the metal lines. Thankfully caught before the rubber hoses completely blew out of the crimp. GM issued two Customer Satisfaction Programs (N212326940 & N192220080) for this issue, neither of which covered my vehicle. Clearly this was a much bigger issue. This is a safety issue as it can lead to a sudden oil loss, which could lead to a loss of propulsion, possibly leading to a crash. The oil is spread across the under side of the vehicle and could lead to a fire if it comes in contact with the exhaust.

Apr 2026 ENGINE I own a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado with approximately 84,000 miles. Prior to the engine failure, I noticed abnormal engine ticking noise, especially during cold starts. I reported this concern to the dealership during a service visit. The technician verified the engine noise but stated that the noise was normal and no repairs were performed. Over time the condition worsened and the vehicle began experiencing engine misfires and internal engine damage. Diagnostic inspection later revealed oil contamination and cylinder wall scoring requiring full engine replacement. Additionally, while driving on a public street, the serpentine belt suddenly came off the engine without warning. This created an immediate safety concern because the belt powers critical systems such as power steering and engine cooling. Losing these systems while driving could cause loss of vehicle control. At the time of the incident, my children were in the vehicle and there were pedestrians and other drivers on the road. The sudden mechanical failure created a dangerous situation that could have resulted in a crash or injury. No warning lights or messages appeared on the dashboard prior to the engine failure, and the check engine light never illuminated. Because the engine concern had previously been reported and dismissed as normal, the problem continued to worsen until catastrophic engine damage occurred. I am submitting this complaint because I am concerned that this may not be an isolated issue and that similar engine failures could pose a safety risk to other drivers.

Apr 2026 ENGINE Bearing and Engine failure, Had to pay out of pocket for a new engine at 78,000 miles. The problem was diagnosed by my local dealer Denoyer Chevrolet in holland Mi. There was no warning lamps, messages, nor symptoms. Dealer had all the info on date, inspection and repair. Engine failures like this are very dangerous as they can cause catastrophic injury or damage. General Motors should be held accountable and made to pay back customers for there damaged products.

Apr 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM My 2019 truck with 50k miles on it, broke down and nearly caused an accident. The safety recall for the wiring harness chafing was not assigned to my VIN. I had vehicle towed to find out my loss of power and 17 error codes were due to the wires rubbing due to improperly installed by the dealer per this NHTSA. I called the 1800 number for Chevy and they told me my VIN wasn’t “Picked” to be part of this recall. I asked why, my vehicle did exactly what recall said. They said sorry we can’t do anything. I could have died the way the truck acted. I need a complaint filed and assistance having the dealer add my VIN to this recall. Any assistance will be appreciated.

Apr 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Vehicle power steering went out while driving as I almost crashed through the corner. My anti-skid light came on on the dash along with a message saying service power steering drive with care and a message saying service ESC. Upon further investigation, it appears the ground strap connecting the frame to the passenger side wheel well is corroded camming electrical problems with the power steering, etc. Apparently my Vin number does not qualify for replacement on my 2019 truck even though it’s still in their warranty Chevy should replace these straps for free. The dealer wants to charge $300 for a diagnostic fee in around $300 for another repair. However mine is under warranty, but I feel like I should not have to pay a diagnostic fee. It should be covered as a recall. I have attached pictures of the codes from the dealership computer.

Mar 2026 POWER TRAIN Driving my truck and I suddenly got a warning on my dashboard that said, "Low Oil Pressure. Turn Engine Off." I pulled over immediately, shut off the the engine and called for a tow. Dealership called to let me know the engine was seized and would cost $22,270 to repair. Looking online I found that Chevy had released a Customer Service Program (CSP) detailing that the oil coolant lines in 2019 Silverado 1500 could have a weak / defective crimp holding the oil coolant line onto the connector and could separate causing catastrophic oil loss. It is also stated in the CSP that cold weather makes the issue more likely. I have tried getting GM to cover the repair since they knew about the issue and never contacted me to make the fix. GM is maintaining that they did nothing wrong and that my VIN is not listed as one of the vehicles in need of repair. This, despite the acknowledgement of the CSP and that the CSP "is for the dealerships." Which I pointed out the correction listed was for me to have the oil lines replaced and that never happened. I also pointed out as they said this wouldn't have been listined on my VIN because it was for dealerships and yet no one: not GM, not the dealership I bought the truck from, nor the dealership that regularly serviced my truck mentioned the oil line issue to me.

Mar 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM I’d like to report a serious, ongoing safety concern with my 2019 Chevrolet Silverado (5.3 V8 53,028 mi) since Dec 2025. Over the last 4 months, I have experienced at least 20 engine failures/loss of power, with no engine light illuminated after restarting truck. These failures result in a complete loss of power, including steering and braking, posing a significant risk of a crash. Chevy said it would be hard to diagnose with no engine warning light on. Feb 24th, engine failure, warning light stayed on and towed truck to Chevy. Truck on standby, repaired Mar 10th, replacing 2 oxygen sensors per Diagnostics. Picked it up on March 11th, but engine shutdown again the same day and 4 additional failures while driving in my neighborhood, making the truck undrivable. I reached out to Chevy service supervisor, Juliana, but have received no response for the last 10 days. I urge NHTSA to investigate this defect as it poses a severe safety risk. Thank you for your urgent attention.
