| Sep 2025 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | while driving, mdx loose power especially on freeway speed. engine start jerking. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | POWER TRAIN | I was driving at about 65mph on the NJ Turnpike at 7:45pm on 8/28/25 when suddenly the accelerator pedal was non-responsive over a period of about 3-5 seconds. The RPMs dropped (engine did not stall) and the vehicle speed began to diminish. No warning lights showed and the dashboard remained lit as usual. The road was wet from a recent downpour. This was a very scary moment as my vehicle was surrounded by trucks. I further depressed the accelerator pedal and was able to regain control of the vehicle. This is the one and only time this happened with this vehicle as far as I am aware. I have scheduled to bring it to Acura service next week regarding this issue. A Google search has revealed several class action lawsuits regarding this issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | My 2019 Acura MDX which was owned for less than two years, broke down due to a transmission failure. The vehicle had an open recall (one of many recent) delayed by Acura for months, which research shows can cause engine and transmission damage. Acura of Reno denied the recall link and misattributed the failure to “incorrect fluid,” despite admitting the fluid was correct to myself and other businesses. I believe this breakdown was directly related to the open recall and request an investigation into Acura’s handling of these failures. There have been many legal cases against acura regarding this matter previously. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The windshield camera suddenly failed one day while driving and it ended up disabling all the driver assist systems including the emergency braking, lane keep assist, forward collision, auto high beam, cruise control etc. Over the next few weeks the system kept randomly working and failing during driving every few hours or minutes. The discussion forums are filled with people complaining about the same issue with ALL Honda and Acura vehicles starting 2013 where they camera suddenly fails and then start working intermittently until it eventually fails. It seems Honda is using the same defective camera across all it's Honda and Acura models which is a big safety hazard and they refuse to acknowledge the issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | My vehicle is showing identical symptoms to those described in recall 21V-215/23V-858 related to the fuel pump. Although my VIN is not listed in the recall, I would like to verify whether my fuel pump is part of the defective batch, as it is failing in the same way (e.g., loss of power, engine shutting off, hard starting when cold, etc.). Or please confirm if my car symptoms are related to different campaigns. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE | Vehicle is getting errors for Emssions controls, parking brake, and sh-awd system faults all at the same time. Car will still function normally and codes will go off and come back intermittently. Also while reading the codes it will get a U3006-16 code for low voltage on the ecm. Confirmed battery is good under load test and alternator is charging at 14.2 volts. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2025 | POWER TRAIN | At only 44,318 miles, my 2019 Acura MDX began showing clear transmission problems in the lower gears — including delayed acceleration, gear slipping, and jerky movement when starting or turning at low speed. These symptoms posed an immediate safety risk, especially when merging into traffic or making turns across oncoming vehicles. I first brought the car to Oakland Acura, which incorrectly diagnosed it as a transfer case issue. Their misdiagnosis delayed the repair process and added unnecessary cost and time. I then had the vehicle evaluated at Acura Concord, where it was correctly diagnosed as transmission failure in the lower gears. An independent, certified mechanic also confirmed the same diagnosis. Despite multiple confirmations of premature transmission failure — and a full maintenance history — American Honda offered only a $900 discount on a $9,600 repair, citing the vehicle being just outside the time warranty (but with low mileage well under 50K). I believe this is a manufacturer defect, not a wear-and-tear issue. Safety Concern: This transmission failure is not just inconvenient — it is dangerous. The vehicle hesitates when accelerating from stops or low speeds, which can lead to accidents at intersections, highway merges, or left turns. The misdiagnosis further delayed identifying and addressing this issue. I am filing this complaint to urge NHTSA to investigate whether this is part of a broader pattern with Acura MDX transmissions, and to help prevent similar risks for other drivers and families. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2025 | POWER TRAIN | Rear differential SWD light came on was told it was my tires but in fact it is water corrosion in the rear differential oil pump and subframe wiring harness. Acura is aware of the issue but will not warranty the work. This should be a recall | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Vehicle Make/Model/Year: 2019 Acura MDX Component Affected: Forward Collision Avoidance / Lane Departure / ADAS (Front Camera System) Summary of Issue: I am filing this complaint regarding a recurring and dangerous issue involving the front windshield-mounted camera on our 2019 Acura MDX. After purchasing this vehicle and driving approximately 5500 miles in Las Vegas, multiple critical safety warnings began appearing on the dashboard, including: •“Collision Mitigation System Problem” •“Road Departure Mitigation System Problem” •“Lane Keeping Assist Problem” •“Adaptive Cruise Control Problem” These warnings occur continuosly. The warning lights won’t turn off, resulting in the complete shutdown of essential Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Safety Concerns: This camera-related failure disables major safety features designed to prevent accidents. The driver is left without automatic emergency braking, lane keeping, or adaptive cruise control. This is especially dangerous at highway speeds. Acura has not issued a recall, despite the widespread nature of this problem and documented cases in other hot-weather regions. Service Experience: We purchased the vehicle used from a Cadillac dealership. The issue began approximately 3 months after purchase. A mechanic confirmed that the front camera system is likely malfunctioning due to heat exposure—a known problem with this model. Why I’m Reporting: I believe this is a safety defect that should prompt investigation. Acura appears to have issued Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) but has not taken action to proactively notify owners or issue a recall. This defect compromises driver and passenger safety and puts others at risk. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The passenger windshield behind the driver's seat smelled of smoke and exploded the car while driving. This model has had multiple of the same problem with other cars and refused to identify and fix the problem. I have been informed by Acura that it's an out-of-pocket expense and not covered by warranty because it's not yet under recall despite several occurrences. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE,POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2019 Acura MDX. The contact stated that the vehicle shifted to park while driving at an undisclosed speed. The engine and EVAP system warning lights were illuminated. There was a leak from the Evaporative Emission Control (EVAP) system. The vehicle was previously taken to the local dealer for NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 88,000 |
| Feb 2025 | EXTERIOR LIGHTING | The headlight assemblies to my vehicle have become defective. The headlight assembly, both right and left, has moisture intrusion within the headlight assembly, creating condensation build-up inside the housing. This issue also caused the headlights to become white and hazy in appearance. I was advised by the dealer that this would lead to failure with the lighting and would have to be replaced. I purchased a certified used vehicle with Tustin Acura in August of 2022 and also purchased an extended warranty for piece of mind. In the 2 1/2 years that I have owned the vehicle, I have added about 25k miles and have always garaged the vehicle. When the issue was reviewed by the dealer, they refused to cover the problem under warranty and requested that I reach out to American Honda for further assistance. I did that but was denied and told the issue was caused by "outside influence," but provided no explanation as to what this meant. To me it felt like I was being blamed for clearly a defective issue. A Google search of this issues revealed to me that this was a common issue with 2019 Acura MDX vehicles. To replace the headlights would be a cost to me of nearly $3,000. it seems almost ridiculous to pay for clearly defective equipment. I fear that my inability to afford this great expense with lead to headlight failure that could result in a collision if this failure were to occur at night. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | My 2019 Acura MDX with 100K miles stalled on the road with several alerts on the dashboard and went into Parking mode with no further movement. Had several alerts stating Transmission failure, Blind Spot monitoring failure, Auto break system failure and vehicle stalled on the road. Had similar issues previously where the steering jammed and vehicle was stalled on the signal, took it to Acura dealer and they had to fix some circuit / reset the circuit board. Was ok for few months and last week the car stalled with Parking sign on. Towed the car to the Dealer service center, they diagnosed and identified there is a failure with transmission. They quoted around 10000 dollars for replace new and 7000 for used transmission. This is huge money, hence called Acura customer care for any review/support but they claimed this issue is not in their current recalls or claims, so cannot support. had to pay out of the pocket. Per google there seemed to be a lawsuit with Transmission failures with Acura 2019 mdx vehicle. Acura customer relations is asking to get into the law suit group and Acura as such cannot help the customers with these problems. Had Lexus for several years with no issues and very upset/annoyed with these type of repairs within 100K / 5year old. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact owns a 2019 Acura MDX. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was not made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Electric Parking Brake Problem and Emission System Problem lights came on spontaneously | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The contact owned a 2019 Acura MDX. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle experienced a sudden jolt. The contact immediately depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle erroneously accelerated to a high rate of speed. The contact depressed the brake pedal, shifted to neutral, and to the park position but the vehicle continued to increase speed eventually crashing into several vehicles that were stopped at a red light. The vehicle then crashed into a moving vehicle where it came to a stop. The contact indicated that during the incident four vehicles were crashed into and the vehicle's collision avoidance system did not activate as intended. The contact sustained an injured back which later required medical treatment. A second motorist sustained an undisclosed eye injury. No further information was available. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed to the home. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was a total loss. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 22,229. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Injuries: 2 Towed Medical attention | 22,229 |
| Jan 2025 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact owns a 2019 Acura MDX. The contact stated that while driving at various undisclosed speeds, an abnormal sound could be heard coming from the engine and a fuel-burning odor leaked into the interior and exterior of the vehicle. The transmission jerked while driving. The failure occurred on several occasions. The contact received a notification of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 23V858000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) and 23V751000 ( ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). However, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available. | Crash: No Fire: No | 60,000 |
| Nov 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | Engine failure due Dealership refusal to fix recall items. Engine completely stop working in between drive. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2024 | POWER TRAIN | In front of the red light on the way to work in a morning, I stopped my MDX, then when the red light changed to green, I pressed gas pedal to cross over the street, but unfortunately, my car was pulled backward, and meanwhile, I heard a loud sound of Bang from my mdx. I suspect that the loud sound must be from the gears conflicting in the transmission when automatic transmission shifts. Moreover, the car jerks at around 45 mph speed sometimes. Acura must recall fixing this issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2024 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | The car is stalling on the highway.that very scary situation the dealer said they don’t have the parts to fix it. Also they said till the check light doesn’t come on they can’t fix it. I don’t know what to do | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2024 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | We received these recalls more than a year ago and after we called the Acura dealership they told us that there were not enough parts to fix the cars now and that they would give us a call when they had the parts, after two months we called them again and same statement, and same thing for 3 more times with the span of six months. today after more than a year I called again and they are saying no part is available! Since I am worried about safety I don't drive my car out of the city but it seems that Acura has no plan to address these recalls. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2024 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact owns a 2019 Acura MDX. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2024 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact owns a 2019 Acura MDX. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated while attempting to drive from a complete stop at a traffic light, the vehicle stalled, nearly causing a crash. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. Parts distribution disconnect. | Crash: No Fire: No | 90,000 |
| Nov 2024 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | In February 2024, received a recall for fuel pump module, which can result in prevent engine from starting, cause vehicle to lose driver power, or stall while driving. Can also result in failing emissions inspection. Acura reports that repair is not available until Fall 2024. In October 2024, while at a stoplight, auto idle-stop was engaged, and engine stalled and would not turn on. Vehicle needed to be turned off and then engine started at that time. A previous recall that affected auto idle stop was addressed in May 2023 where engine does not auto restart after entering auto idle stop. In April 2023 Acura provided a software update, however in October 2024 the engine stalled as mentioned above. Additionally, a local emissions test was performed and failed around April 2022, and passed a second time when performed a few weeks later. Even after experiencing symptoms of recall 23V-858, recall has not been able to be addressed. This vehicle was brought into Acura in November 2024 for an another recall (23V-751) and I was told that current unaddressed recall may be available within the following month but could not provide any further assistance. Engine stalling at a stoplight puts my family at risk, as well as others. If engine is stalling at a stoplight, engine may stall at other times, including while driving, increasing risk of accident. Recall has been undressed for almost 10 months. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I just read about this new recall on Honda and Acura vehicles. I just wanted to say that I am really mad at Honda and you guys at NHTSA. You just put these issues out there in the media that Honda and Acura have all these safety issues and these are really dangers issues people could loose their lives here , but no one fallows what Honda and Acura are doing. I have 2019 Acura MDX and I got this recall flayer in the mail I late 2023 and the flayer stated that we will be notified by Acura and Honda when the parts are available. And it clearly says that this is a dangerous recall lives could be at stake. Guess what now is November 2024 and I was never notified by any means no flayer no phone calls no email no nothing. Nobody cares . Now this comes out again same issue and what nobody cares again. This is ridiculous someone should be held accountable for putting my kids my family in danger. Like I said my vehicle was recalled in 2023 for this same dangerous issue and no one ever contacted or sent another flayer again. Good thing I called Acura two weeks ago just out of curiosity about the recall for 2023 . They said oh ok will schedule you for Aril of 2025 hahaha. This is crazy it takes two years to fix an issue this dangerous. And guess what they will probably call me in April of 2025 and say they have no parts and that would be able to schedule me for 2026. Yeah that how dese recallls work and no one cares about people and family lives.Thank you Honda Acura and NHTSA. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
