OUR CAR HAS BEEN IN 3 TIMES FOR SERVICE AND EACH TIME (AT 5K, 10K, AND 15 MILES), I HAVE EXPLAINED TO THE SERVICE WRITERS THAT MY CAR HAS A LAG, A STOP IN THE THROTTLE AND TURBO, WHERE IT FAILS TO ACCELERATE IMMEDIATELY UPON PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL. THIS DELAY / HESITATION / AND ALL OUT STALLING IS PLACING ME IN VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS WHILE DRIVING.TWICE IN THE LAST WEEK, IT HAS COMPLETELY STALLED (ENGINE DOES NOT SHUT OFF BUT CAR WILL NOT GO) WHERE I WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED ON THE FREEWAY IN ONE OCCASION AND ALMOST T-BONED IN AN INTERSECTION IN THE OTHER. THE FOLKS AT THE DEALERSHIP EXPLAINED THIS IS A 'KNOWN CHARACTERISTIC OF THIS VEHICLE'. NOT ONE TIME, WHEN I WAS PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE WAS IT EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THE TIGUAN WOULD FAIL TO ACCELERATE AND PUT ME IN SUCH A DANGEROUS POSITION. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO VW AND MY LOCAL NEWS MEDIA. I FIND IT ABSURD THAT THIS IS A KNOWN CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE AND NOT ONCE WAS THIS MENTIONED AS THE REASON UNTIL MY THIRD VISIT AT 15,000 MILES WHERE THE DEPRECIATION OF MY VEHICLE MAKES IT A TOTAL LOSS FOR ME TO TRY TO EVEN GET A SAFER VEHICLE. THURSDAY JUNE 29, 10 AM, I ARRIVED AND CHECKED MY VEHICLE IN. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD TAKE A COUPLE OF HOURS TO COMPLETE EVERYTHING. IT TOOK 5 HOURS AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE SHIFT PLATE UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS LOOSE AND IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT 3 TO 4 DAYS FOR THE PART TO ARRIVE. I RECEIVED A CALL ON JULY 5TH, STATING THE PART CAME IN AND I WAS SCHEDULED TO COME BACK IN ON SATURDAY JULY 9TH AND THAT HE WOULD HAVE A TECHNICIAN RIDE WITH ME , SINCE I WAS HEARING THE NOISE FROM THE SEAT BELT PANEL ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR. WHEN I ARRIVED, THE TECHNICIAN RODE WITH ME TO HEAR THE NOISE AND HE AGREED THAT IT WAS COMING FROM THE SEAT BELT PANEL. TECHNICIAN DROVE 2 OTHER DEMO CARS SINCE MY CAR WAS DRIVEN BY THE OWNER. FAST-FORWARD, I WAS TOLD THE DEMO CARS SOUNDED THE SAME WAY AND THAT HE TOOK THE SEAT BELT PANEL OFF, REARRANGED SOMETHING , DROVE THE CAR AND DIDN'T HEAR THE NOISE. | Jun 2018 | ENGINE | WHILE DRIVING IN A 50MPH ROAD DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, THE EPC LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. I DIDN'T WANT TO PULL OVER ONTO A NARROW BIKE LANE. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC; OTHER DRIVERS WERE FORCED TO GO AROUND ME. AT THE NEXT STOP LIGHT, I RESTARTED THE CAR. THE EPC LIGHT DID NOT COME BACK ON, AND THE VEHICLE BEHAVED NORMALLY AGAIN. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN, THAT I SHOULD BRING IT IN. I GOT THE IMPRESSION THAT THIS IS A NORMAL REBOOT PROCESS FOR A VOLKSWAGEN, LIKE HAVING TO REBOOT A WINDOWS PC IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG. I THINK THE PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE IT HAPPENS AGAIN. | May 2018 | SUSPENSION | I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2018 VW TIGUAN FROM A CAR DEALERSHIP IN MY TOWN. TWO WEEKS LATER THEY CALLED ME AND ASKED ME TO BRING IT BACK IN TO HAVE IT INSPECTED FOR A POSSIBLE RECALL. AFTER AN HOUR OF SITTING AROUND WAITING FOR THEM TO CHECK I FINALLY WENT TO THEIR DESK AND ASKED WHAT WAS GOING ON. THEY TOLD ME THAT MINE WAS RECALLED AND THEY COULDN'T LET ME LEAVE WITH MY CAR. THEN THEY SPENT 2 HOURS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T SURE IF THEY SHOULD GET ME A RENTAL CAR OR A LOANER. EVENTUALLY THEY GOT ME A RENTAL CAR AND ARE COVERING THE COST OF THAT. BUT NOW I'M LOOKING INTO THE SPECIFIC RECALL '42I7' AND IT WOULD SEEM THAT THE RECALL MAY HAVE BEEN IN PLACE PRIOR TO THEM SELLING ME THE CAR. I TEST DROVE THE CAR ON MAY 3RD 2018 AND SUBMITTED A LOAN APPLICATION. I CAME BACK THE NEXT DAY MAY 4TH 2018 TO SIGN THE PAPERS AND TAKE DELIVERY OF THE CAR. I WANT TO KNOW IF THE DEALER BROKE STATE OF WI LAWS BY SELLING ME A NEW CAR WITH A DANGEROUS RECALL OUT FOR IT. NOW I HAVE TO WAIT A MONTH FOR PARTS TO COME IN. | May 2018 | STRUCTURE | THE DRIVER'S SIDE B-PILLAR HAS A RATTLE/CREAK. IT'S A SLIGHT TICKING THAT HAPPENS MOST OF THE TIME OVER UNEVEN ROADS OR WHEN YOU HIT A BUMP; THE RATTLE/NOISE HAPPENS OVER THE SMALLEST BUMP. NOISE CAN BE HEARD EVEN ON EVEN ROADS.I'VE HAD THE CAR SINCE 1/31/2018 WHEN I PURCHASED IT NEW, AND AS OF TODAY 5/12/18 HAS 2637 MILES. I HAVE NOTICED THE RATTLE SINCE THE WEATHER HAS BEEN WARMER AND AFTER THE VEHICLE SITS IN THE SUN OR OUTSIDE. THE RATTLE OCCURS AT ANY SPEED; 15 MPH - 70 MPH.I HAVE NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP SINCE I WANT THIS ISSUE DOCUMENTED SINCE IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE BASED ON MY RESEARCH AND THE FIX IS NOT FULL PROOF YET. I DON'T WANT MY CAR DISMANTLED UNTIL I KNOW THE FIX WILL ACTUALLY FIX IT PERMANENTLY. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WHICH HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE NHTSA AND VW ALREADY BY OTHER VW TIGUAN OWNERS. VW HAS ISSUED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 2050753 ON 4/2/18 WITH A SUPPOSED FIX, BUT MULTIPLE OWNERS ARE STAYING THAT FIX HAS NOT SOLVED THEIR ISSUES.
