| Date | Component | Summary | Severity | Mileage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jan 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER,BACK OVER PREVENTION | The backup camera periodically freezes when you put the vehicle in reverse. Other times, the screen will stay black or just show the Nissan logo until you cycle power. The safety of all inside the vehicle and around the vehicle is at risk when the backup camera feed freezes, especially if the operator doesn't realize the feed is frozen. This vehicle is currently operated outside of the US but will be available for inspection upon return. The issue is intermittent so it has not been reproduced in the presence of any service center. There were no warning messages involved. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2022 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | The driver side wiper arm stopped working on Sunday, January 16, 2022. The wiper motor and passenger side wiper were still functioning. The wiper arm was checked for damage Thursday, January 20 and none found. The nut holding the arm to a threaded shaft was found to be very loose. The nut was tightened and the wiper arm was repaired. Today, Sunday, January 23, the defect reoccurred. The nut was tightened again. However, this defect is clearly a safety hazard given the driver's side wiper clears more than half the windshield. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2022 | ENGINE | The contact owns a 2018 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently shut off and restarted independently. The failure occurred on two separate occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 30,000 |
| Dec 2021 | BACK OVER PREVENTION | Backup camera shuts off. Occasionally when backing up using the rear camera assistant (built into the infotainment screen) the system will shutoff and display the Bluetooth song which is playing. This is dangerous because, a) that camera is there for our safety, and b) its hard to see if anything has moved directly behind the car in the time it takes for the driver to transition from the backup screen to the mirrors. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2021 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | I was driving 50mph in a 50mph zone and the Forward Collision Avoidance system activated emergency braking, bringing vehicle to an immediate halt in a lane of traffic. Conditions were wet from earlier rainfall; however, no hazards or vehicles were immediately in front of me. This activation tugged on my seatbelt and chest and collarbone resulting in pain while the vehicle lunged me forward. Due to the immediate breaking of my vehicle, vehicles behind me were forced to quickly break or make a lane change. If the vehicles behind me were not responsive enough, I would’ve been struck by a vehicle going 40-50mph. The problem has not been reproduced or inspected; however, this has happened 3-4 other times with no attention to the matter. | Crash: No Fire: No Injuries: 1 | Unknown |
| Dec 2021 | ENGINE | Vehicle failed to accelerate properly on an uphill incline. It felt as though it was stuck in a lower gear and unable accelerate due to gear change causing engine revving and shuddering. Very frightening experience which has now occurred twice. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2021 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Drive in a residential street less the 30 vehicles light turned on and car brakes came to a complete stop it has happened twice it first did this on 8/24/21 and again on 12/12/21 | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2021 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | While driving at a speed of about 15 mile per hour my car's automatic braking system engaged with no other vehicles or obstructions around. My car came to a sudden stop and when I hit the gas it was still kept from moving by the brakes. I did not see any emergency light and when I took it to the dealer they said there was no record of the emergency braking system being engaged. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2021 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Heater blows cold and will not defrost A/C blows warm and will not cool | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2021 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The contact owns a 2018 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph when the vehicle suddenly seized due to the car safety sensor for the front of the vehicle suddenly activating with no vehicle's in front or on the sides of the vehicle to cause it to activate. The contact had pressed the accelerator pedal immediately after and the vehicle functioned as anticipated. The contact had spoken to the dealer however the vehicle had not been officially diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage is 41,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 41,000 |
| Dec 2021 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,BACK OVER PREVENTION | The contact owns a 2018 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the crash avoidance system became inoperable. While reversing there was no alert of a person behind the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where informed about the diagnostic fees. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure after several road tests. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but, no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 25,000 |
| Dec 2021 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The contact owns a 2018 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving at various speeds the Forward Collision Automatic Emergency braking system engaged without warning. The collision warning light was illuminated. The contact called the local dealer where an appointment was scheduled but the vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 40,400. | Crash: No Fire: No | 40,400 |
| Dec 2021 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Every time I drive the vehicle, a "Malfunction" warning appears after several beeps. It displays a collision icon, and states "See Owner's Manual". However, this does not appear in the owner's manual. Additionally, every time I drive the vehicle, there are several beeps and both a "warning (!)" and "collision" icon appear before a message stating that there is "front radar obstruction", despite there being no obstruction. The third and final, and most dangerous issue has happened once in the six days I've had the car so far: A warning appeared that there was a driver on my left that was too close to me despite there not being a vehicle on my left. The emergency brake immediately turned on and slowed my car to a near stop. This happened on the highway in a 65 mph zone. This put my safety and the safety of others at immense risk of collision due to unnecessary and unexpected stopping. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2021 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The emergency brake system (anti-collision system) randomly kicks in. Most recently it happened on an interstate where the car automatically slammed on its brakes. The part was recalled in 2019. The car was serviced on December 20, 2019 to fix the problem. It has happened multiple times since then. There is never a warning that it is about to happen, all of the incidents are random. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2021 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The trunk hatch sensor does not always detect when there is someone in the trunk. I have had multiple incidents where whether I use the fob or the manual button on the truck door it’s self it will open and then immediately start to close when I am standing underneath it. I have almost gotten pinned under the trunk door and had to quickly get out from underneath before it closed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2021 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The emergency brake turns on automatically while driving, it pulls the car, so you can't drive. This is very dangerous and can cause an accident. It can be a life and death situation because the car just slows down automatically without you touching anything. Then the forward collision light goes on. When you take the emergency break light off, and turn the car off, the collision light goes off. It has happened to us twice and I have read online that it has happened to others as well. This is very dangerous as it puts everyone's life at risk. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2021 | ENGINE | Cut transmission | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2021 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | While driving on freeway and highway my vehicle suddenly came to an abrupt stop to the point of ABS system turning on as if there was a car in front without any obstacles or any vehicles on the road. It caused whiplash type of injury with each instance. It happened 5 times within 20 minutes. We visited professional body shop without any problems discovered. Since the vehicle was inspected in body shop it had happened twice again, last time on 9/26/21. Pls look into this issue ASAP as it is extremely dangerous situation!! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2021 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection light comes on while going down the road. One of the times that it came on it turned off cruise control and the vehicle started to slow way down and then it was like the brakes were being applied while we were on the Interstate surrounded by traffic. The vehicle then would not accelerate for a period of a couple of minutes requiring me to move over while I was in the process of trying to pass vehicles which then required drivers around me to have to slow down and avoid hitting us. The vehicle would not allow the cruise control to turn on until we finally got into a town and stopped to get something to eat. I did not report the issue to the manufacturer, police or insurance at this time. The warning light came on suddenly when the incident happened but since we had not had the vehicle that long we were not sure what it was so we had to look that up. Since then it has ran fine but the other day again while traveling down the interstate it came on again but this time there was not slowing, braking or anything as a result so don't know why it came on and it did not appear to be working correctly if it was not doing anything but flashing the warning light. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2021 | STEERING,POWER TRAIN,WHEELS | Vehicle is three years old. Never used the spare previously. Had a nail in the tire, so called Nissan Care to come and change it. Nissan Care arrived, used the spare that came with the vehicle and changed the tire. Immediately upon driving it, my wife heard weird noises, including grinding under her feet and grinding near the front right of the vehicle. Some knowledgeable car experts at her work told her she needs to get it checked out. She drove on it for less than 15 minutes before hearing a loud pop from the back, at which point the vehicle started smoking. She drove it to a nearby dealer. The dealer indicated the spare tire was not the same size as the others and because the vehicle has an intelligent all wheel drive system, this caused the rear differential to explode. Nissan RO # 6112906 is the reference number at Martin Nissan in Skokie, IL. | Crash: No Fire: Yes | Unknown |
| Sep 2021 | AIR BAGS | Had an accident to which passenger door area was the impact zone of a collision yet passenger front and side airbags did deploy yet only my front driver airbag deployed. My side airbag did not and I sustained injuries from being rammed against side whereas I wouldn’t have had it deployed. Also, wanted to note that while the passenger airbag did deploy my daughter still hit the windshield in midst of it deploying. Something to look into. Won’t let me upload, sorry. You can email me and I will send them that way. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Injuries: 2 Towed Medical attention | Unknown |
| Sep 2021 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The contact owns a 2018 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that the forward collision avoidance automatic emergency braking activated independently while driving at various speeds. The contact stated that the front radar obstructed message was displayed. The vehicle was not taken to a dealership to be inspected. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 23,000 |
| Sep 2021 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Key gets stuck in ignition and have to wiggle to get it out | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2021 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The automatic brake employed even though there was no vehicles or objects in front. Only lets car speed up to about 60 mph but still applying the emergency brake. Also transmission light is on. Undriveable. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2021 | POWER TRAIN | I was driving on the highway in fairly heavy traffic, going with the flow of traffic at approx. 65 miles per hour. I was in the passing lane when I felt the vehicle lose power (I initially thought it was a strong headwind as we were experiencing the tail-end of a hurricane here in the northeast). This happened for only a second and then everything seemed normal again. It happened again and I realized none of the trees on the side of the road indicated we were having any wind at all. I immediately worked my way into the right hand lane and as I did, the engine revved to about 5,000 RPMs and the vehicle lost power. There were highway maintenance vehicles in the breakdown lane so I put the vehicle in neutral and coasted beyond them so I could get into the breakdown lane. I narrowly avoided being hit by a tractor trailer when this vehicle's transmission disengaged without any warning. I only have 93,000 miles and the vehicle was bought brand new by me and driven only highway miles. There were absolutely no warning signs or emergency warning lights on the dash to indicate any type of failure. I was able to get this to the local Nissan dealership and they told me the transmission had failed and would need replacement at the cost of $4,600.00 and that Nissan would do nothing to offset any part of this repair. This vehicle is a death trap that I would never put another dime into. Someone will get killed if this is happening to other people. I almost did. After some research, it appears Nissan has avoided having a recall, despite multiple issues being reported on several sites, over what appears to be several years. If you value your loved ones, stay away from Nissan as the transmission failing on the highway without warning could be a deadly mistake. It nearly was for me, and an accident reconstruction team would never think to tear apart the transmission, especially with no warning lights or codes indicated. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
