Nov 2025 UNKNOWN OR OTHER I believe the APIM has malfunctioned. I have a black screen. No backup camera, no controls for the functions on the screen, no radio and no hands free telephone. The safety of being able to see what is behind me while backing up is gone. The screen started malfunctioning about 8 months ago. It would work sporadically, now it doesn't work at all. I did the soft reset and the hard reset, plus Ford walked me through the update but it never worked.

Nov 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Both driver and passenger low beam headlights started strobe, than completely stopped working while driving at night. This was extremely stressful and dangerous as I was no longer able to see the roads very well, my options were get a tow truck to pick up and bring my vehicle from Michigan back to Minnesota or sit on the side of the road until the morning also a safety risk. Upon inspection the following day, it was only the low beam that was not working and all other LED's were working. This is when I tried to replace both headlight modules, that did not fix the issue. I then bought new headlights thinking the low beam LED stopped working after going through 3 sets of headlights the issue was never resolved.

Oct 2025 UNKNOWN OR OTHER None of the parts listed above are the problem. But we can hear a weird noise coming from the sides of the windshield and can definitely tell that it's getting worse as the noise has increased significantly as time goes by. I just called a glass company and they told me that the parts needed to get this fixed are pretty expensive. That's why I am reaching out since it looks like there is a recall specifically for this issue. Can Ford take care of this issue?

Oct 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Fault code B14E7:08-0A Right Front Enhanced Exterior Lighting System, passenger headlamp will not turn off until BCM disconnects after 20 minutes. Dealer diagnosis determined a possible headlamp control module FB5Z13C788D fault (replaced left module with right module and same headlamp stayed on so both headlamp control modules are correctly functioning) this indicates a broken wire in right front enhanced exterior lighting system wiring harness. Oct 2025 UNKNOWN OR OTHER Backup Camera does not work. This has been going on for two years. We have been to the dealer about this situation. There were intermittent messages saying that the camera didn't work, then it completely stopped. This started in 2023. We went to the dealer to find out about what it would cost to have it fixed and found out that all the years around the 2018 had been recalled for this problem. We wanted you to know that the 2018 has the same problem as these other vehicles with the backup camera.

Oct 2025 STEERING,SUSPENSION On Saturday 10/18/2025 the rear drivers side tow link of my 2018 Ford Explorer XLT snapped while driving 70 mph under normal driving conditions on a 4-lane section of i-75 in Detroit, MI. This caused a loss of steering, and my family and almost hit the median concrete wall when it sharply veered to the left completely unexpectedly. There were no warning sounds or symptoms and happened at random on a straight away. We then spun out doing multiple 360 spins on 2 wheels, almost flipping completely, and landing in the middle 2 lanes. We had a semi truck and another vehicle narrowly miss us. I was able to then move fast enough to the side of the road and avoid being hit by more oncoming traffic. We called 911 and AAA for towing to Suburban Ford of Troy who did an inspection and found the drivers side rear tow link has snapped due to a seized knuckle. There is a recall for the exact same known issue in the 2011-2017 Ford Explorers. My wife’s 2017 explorer has the same parts as my 2018 and has the recall for the tow links and ball joint due to this known issue, yet Ford is refusing to acknowledge the issue is still affecting later model years. My Explorer only had 74,000 miles on it and never any accidents or abnormal driving conditions/hard driving. My family and I are extremely lucky to be alive after such a catastrophic failure. This type of issue should never happen on any vehicle and is a totally unacceptable engineering failure. Ford needs to inspect this issue on the later models beyond 2017 as this will cost lives. This will kill people and we are actually in shock that we lived through this. Ford should take responsibility and pay for this repair, as well as the other side the same as they do the years the recalled.

Oct 2025 STRUCTURE The contact owns a 2018 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 MPH, the front driver’s side A-pillar trim was suddenly ejected from the vehicle. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V031000(STRUCTURE), which was related to the failure, but parts needed to repair the vehicle were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that later the front passenger’s side A-pillar trim experienced the same failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown

Oct 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Traveling 50mph, noticed smoke rolling from under the dash. Got to the side of the road. The entire dash was engulfed in fire. I had to fight my way out of the car after the doors locked. After I got out of the vehicle I called 911. Fire department came. It has been ruled as electrical. I am not sure whom I need to reach out to yet in regards to this matter and a total loss.

Oct 2025 STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER The dash on my 2018 Ford Explorer platinum is rolling up from the front of the dash. It is made out of some sort of leather or vinyl. But with it rolling up towards the driver, it causes a glare onto the windshield which causes visibility issues. I know I'm not the only one experiencing these problems with the platinum trim on the 2018 ford explorer. But this really needs to be looked into and recalled. You can also look up the explorer platinum on a vehicle search website and visibly see that every platinum edition explorer has this issue. It's unsafe and should be addressed immediately.

Oct 2025 STRUCTURE 1 year ago, the exterior pillar trim detached on the 202 Highway in Mesa, Arizona while I was drivign 65 MPH. It cracked another windshield. I received the recall and went in to Robert Horne Ford Dealership. They informed me those pieces are on recall. I told them to notify me when they became available. It has been 1 1/2 years and still nothing. This week, the other side pillar trim came off, again while I was on the highway. This is dangerous. Now I feel like my windshield is not secure, as it is shaking while I am driving. The recall was announced in January of 2024. It is October of 2025. How can a company ignor the recall and simply not address explicit safety violations? NHTSA # 24V031

Sep 2025 STRUCTURE See attached document for complaint. I am writing to express my concern with the February 2024 recall from Ford (Safety Recall Notice 24S02/NHTSA Recall 24V031. This has been a known safety issue from Ford since February 2024. The recall letter (attached) advised that parts were expected later half of 2024. To date, no parts or further communication has been sent from Ford. I was driving my daughter and a friend home. While traveling on 196, the passenger side A-pillar applique trim clip attachment became detached from vehicle, hitting my windshield and then flying backwards on the expressway toward other vehicles. On this particular Sunday, 196 was rather busy. I was able to safely check my rear-view mirrors to ensure that other vehicles traveling behind me were not impacted by the detached trim. I am grateful that this incident occurred without any harm to any individual. I have no idea if the trim caused any damage to the vehicles traveling behind me. I am finding it unacceptable that Ford has sent out zero communication on this safety recall. My husband took my 2018 Ford Explorer to Tony Betten Ford & Sons to inquire about the missing trim and how we go about it getting repaired. He was simply told that Ford has not communicated any ETA for delivery of such parts and as far as they know, Ford is not making enough to meet the recall demand. It is now approximately 18 months since the initial recall notice and Ford has yet to send out any repaired parts. This is unacceptable and dangerous for those driving these recalled vehicles.
