Oct 2023 ENGINE Engine light came on and took 2018 Edge to mechanic. Diagnostic indicated misfiring of piston 2 and 3. Started by changing the spark plugs. Light came back on within a few days. Took car to Ford dealer and they indicated that coolant was leaking into cylinder 2 and 3 and that it could result in engine failure if not repaired including risk of a firer. Engine failure on the wrong roadway (i.e. busy urban interstate highway) could result in catastrophic engine failure and risk injury and loss of life. Given the volume of similar complaints for coolant leakage into cylinders, the probability of engine failure and its consequences should be enough to require a mandatory recall.

Oct 2023 ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM,ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING Last July my check engine light came on giving us a P0302 code. We had the spark plugs changed. It went away for a week then came back on with the same code. We had the coil packs changed. Same thing. Went away for a week then returned. Now dealership is saying they want $9,000+ to replace time engine for an issue that has been known to Ford since 2010 with this engine.with less than 70,000 miles on it, white smoke is pouring out of my car, the engine is overheating and coolant is leaking. I’m told that this can cause a fire or worse, a wreck. I have children that I transport daily in this vehicle seeing how it’s our only means of transportation and we dont have the money to replace the engine much less buy a replacement vehicle. Ford needs to be held accountable for selling these faulty cars, putting families in danger and fix these issues NOW!!! Why wait for someone to die before they actually take a stand and fix their issue when they know thousands of customers are having the exact same issues. Such a disappointment!

Luckily husband is a me and knew to park the car until we got it into Ford for diagnosis. Oct 2023 WHEELS I'm [XXX] and I brought my Ford Edge to Lucas ford on Columbus Road in Burlington, NJ 08016 for Lube and a Tire Rotation. After an hour they said the Ford Edges wheel lugs were swollen and could not be removed under normal conditions. They wanted $300.00 to replace nuts, and with the same ones from FORD. I thought this was a scam and did not have the car dealer replace them. I researched the problem and found it was true and that FORD could care less about it. I tried to remove one nut at home and spent two hours on it and could not remove it. FORD should replace all there defective parts now. As i said I'm [XXX] and if i have a tire blow out on the road, how do remove iot and install the spare? How about a recall on the wheel lug nuts!!! Oct 2023 ENGINE June 2023 the coolant started disappearing from the coolant tank. The vehicle was checked by a licensed mechanic and the coolant is leaking into the engine cylinders only. Nowhere else is it leaking. By it leaking into the cylinders, it is causing the car to misfire, This will lead to a car fire or a seized engine. The vehicle is unsafe to drive, therefore is parked. Ford should have recalled this turbo engine but has failed to do so or do anything about it. There are thousands of people with this problem, 3 in my community, several lawsuits around the USA. I need transportation for my family and to get to work.

Oct 2023 ENGINE Ford dealer verified an independent auto repair shop diagnostic conclusion of coolant intrusion in cylinder 1. Ford has issues TSP 22-2229 regarding same issue with an open campaign. The vehicle exhibits low coolant level, white exhaust smoke and runs rough with an illuminated check engine light. The dealer confirmed it is "206" diagnostic condition code. At normal engine operating temperature, the cooling system was set to 20 PSI for 5 hours and the pressure dropped more than 4 PSI. Per the dealer, a customer case number was opened with Ford. Vehicle age: 5 years, 10 months. Mileage 39,536. Ford Customer Care offered to cover 40% off the repair cost. Offer was accepted. Dealer noted the following repairs: Removed the spark plugs, used a borescope and found coolant has entered the cylinders. Removed then engine and replaced the long block assembly using all of the approved ford gasket removers, parts cleaners, shampoo and metal surface prep wipes to clean all related mating surfaces per the workshop service manual. Also replaced all other related seals, gaskets and non-reusable hardware and re-installed all components removed for repairs in the reverse order of removal and referring to TSB 22-2229. Vacuum filled colling system and filled engine with oil. Hooked up IDS and cleared all DTCS verifying they didn't come back. Cleared KAM valves of the PCM, and ran a misfire monitor profile correction relearn. Road tested the vehicle 20 miles to verify repairs. The system is now operating normally at this time." Also, the "tech found car to have original battery and negative terminal was seized to negative post. Removed and replaced battery. Performed a BMS reset. Road test vehicle. All systems okay at this time." I attempted to upload the repair invoices and it would not allow me to do so. I had to delete the pdfs in order to proceed. I can provide this information upon request.

[XXX] In contacting Ron at Ford Motor Co ([XXX] ), he stated that Ford has no recall for this situation. He referred me to you. Any info on what I can do. Sep 2023 ENGINE engine malfunction, loose engine power. It will fail to accelerate some times. It has been ispected by the ford dealership and the problem has been confirmed by them. Check engine on. Ford Motor company has a recall on the ford edge 2015-2018. Attached you will find the TSB # 19-2208 from ford in which describe the issues for the recall. Even though my car is showing the exact same malfunction, ford is telling me that my specific vin # is not on the recall and that I need to replace the engine for $ 6,000.00. What I do not understand is how if the vehicle has the same malfunction as the recall and it has been confirmed by Ford that its the same safety issue my vehicle will not be included in the recall. I'm writing NHTS as recomended by ford to see if someone can help me with this issue.

Sep 2023 ENGINE I have a 2018 Ford Edge SEL with a 2.0 L engine and 63,550 miles. The EcoBoost engine has coolant intrusion into the cylinders due to a design flaw in the engine where the head gasket fails. Ford has a TSB bulletin (TSB 19-2346) they sent out that requires a new engine replacement for this issue. This issue has been present in 2015-2018 Ford edge and occurs usually when the warranty expires. This relates to safety in that the engine can fail or catch fire. I took it in to a Ford dealer and they said I would need an engine replacement costing $8,100. My car has not been inspected by the manufacturer but I called them and was told that they had no program available to help me. I did contact the dealer I purchased the use car from and they said they couldn't do anything to help me. The MIL (check engine light) came on 2 weeks after I purchased the car from the dealer and when I checked under the hood I found the coolant reservoir empty. I now have payments on a car that needs an engine replacement for $8,100.

Sep 2023 ENGINE Eco boost engine is less than four years old and coolant leaked into engine. This should never happen on a four year old vehicle. Ford put out a “bulletin” on this, not a recall, but never informed me of it directly. When we contacted Ford told us we were out of luck. Cost me 7k to fix. Internet says this is happening way more often than it should be. My mechanic told me this should only happen to vehicles with hundreds of thousands of miles. He was as stunned as we were. This could have killed me. I’m fortunate that I decided to have it looked at. The cost was significant, but my life is worth more. A recall should be triggered. Ford knows it, lawyers know it, the Feds should know it too.
